Arsenal have reportedly made first move to sign Schalke’s starlet Leroy Sane in the January transfer window by placing a bid of £20.9 Million ( €27.29M ).
Sane is said to be one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment with a host of European heavyweights scrambling to secure his service.
Reports claim Arsenal moved to secure his signature ahead of other interested clubs; The bid would be rejected by Schalke who are not prepared to cash in on their prized asset.
However, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are all also interested in signing Sane and this could play in Schalke’s favour as they would use these interests to get the best deal from Sane.
The 20 year old attacker is very versatile as he could play in any position up front; either on the right wing, left wing or as the central striker.
Recent reports according to French paper L’Equipe suggest that Barcelona are ready to meet the £27.7 Million release clause of Leroy Sane during the summer transfer window for the coveted starlet. If this report is true; then Schalke would prefer to wait till the summer to cash in on Sane rather than lose him during the mid-season. Arsenal would have to outbid Barcelona if they are to retain any hope of securing the player’s signature.
