Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal have successfully completed the signing of Egyptian international defensive midfielder, Mohamed Elneny in the January transfer window. But the Gunners are still not giving up hopes of signing Southampton’s Kenyan international, Victor Wanyama.
The Gunners have been tracking the defensive midfielder for a while now and they intensified their chase with injuries to Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin in the middle of the Gunners midfield.
Southampton boss, Ronald Koeman has reiterated his stance that Wanyama and Saido Mane; who has been linked with a move to Manchester United are not for sale in the January transfer window. The Dutch coach is planning on keeping hold of two of his valuable asset, although he knows he can only hold them till the summer.
Arsenal’s latest recruit; Mohamed Elneny lacks Premier League experience and this is the reason why Wenger is still hoping to secure a deal for Wanyama in this January transfer window. A deal this month is highly unlikely but Arsenal as well as other suitors for the Kenyan would have to wait till the summer to secure the services of Wanyama.
