Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal and Barcelona are locked in a transfer battle for the service of Celta Vigo forward Nolito, according to latest report.
Barcelona are said to be close to securing the forward of loan till the summer with an option of making the deal permanent.
According to the Independent , the Gunners are keen to offer Celta Vigo £13.4 Million to secure a move for Nolito but it appears that Barcelona has won the battle to sign Nolito who was part of the Barcelona B team from 2008-2011 before opting to join Celta Vigo where he played under current Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique.
Nolito is in blistering form for Celta Vigo this season with 5 assists and 8 goals in 15 appearances before he got injured.
The 29-year-old has been improving his game since last season and he doesn’t seem like slowing down; he found the back of the net 13 times last season and created 14 assists, something he seems capable of equalling this season if he stays fit.
Little wonder why the Gunners and the Catalan giants are jostling to secure his service in the January transfer window.
Arsenal are seeking to boost their forward with the signing of another striket to support Olivier Giroud and ease the goal scoring burden on the French man; while Louis Enrique is looking to add to his already deadly trio of Messi, Neymar or Suarez in case of injury to any of the players.
