Arsenal faces a tricky tie on Sunday when they travel to the Britannia stadium. The Gunners currently occupy the top spot in the Premier league despite having a long list of first team players out injured.
Danny Welbeck who joined the Gunners last summer from Premier League rivals Manchester United last played for the Gunners in April of 2015 while Alexis Sanchez limped off against Norwich City in a premier league game that ended 1-1.
Alexis Sanchez is said to be fit to feature against Stoke City on Sunday. His return would be a big boost for the Gunners who are yet to enjoy the Chilean’s impact this season after his stunning first season for Arsenal. Alexis started the season slowly due to his involvement with Chile in the Copa America where he helped his country to lift the trophy for the first time. He later returned to his best when he scored a brace against Manchester United before he was later side-lined with the injury that has kept him out since last year.
Another moral boosting news for the Gunners is the injury to one of Stoke City’s influential player; Xherdan Shaqiri, who is reportedly set to miss the tie on Sunday. Shaqiri has formed a formidable partnership with Marko Arnautovic and Bojan Krkic upfront for the resurgent Potters side that has defeated bothManchester Clubs and defending champions Chelsea so far this season
Shaqiri’s absence would surely be missed as he has finally found his footing in the Premier league. He scored a brace against Everton in a 4-3 victory at Goodison Park and has been influential in most of Stoke City’s game so far this season.
