Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal are now reportedly favourites to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, according to report.
Real Madrid have a buy back clause of £26 Million attached to Morata’s contract when he was sold to the Old Ladies in 2014 on a 5 year deal for £20 Million.
Morata started his playing career at the Santiago Bernabue before lack of playing time in the first team made him move to Italian side Juventus where he scored 15 goals in his first season, winning the Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
Real Madrid want to bring Morata back to the Bernabue in the summer but that plan is looking like it would fail with the Spanish giants facing transfer ban from football World Governing Body FIFA for the next two transfer window.
Arsenal wants to now capitalise on Real Madrid’s ban to trigger Morata’s release clause so as to bring the 23 year old to the Emirates. Juventus would not be looking to offload the young Spaniard in the January transfer window but a move in the summer could be possible.
According to the Sun, Arsene Wenger has rekindled his interest in the striker, but any deal in the January transfer window would surely be rebuffed by the Turin giants are they have managed to claw their way back to being title contenders in the Italian Serie A after a disastrous start.
