Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal are in no rush to offer Joel Campbell a new contract at the Emirates despite the youngster’s recent run of good form for the Gunners. 23 year old Campbell signed a new contract at the Emirates last year before his loan move to Spanish side Villarreal.
Injuries to key first team members offered Campbell the opportunity at first team football and he has grabbed that opportunity with both hands by churning in fantastic performances like he did against Olympiacos of Greece and subsequent game in which he has featured.
The 23 year old has been linked with a move away from the Emirates during this January transfer window , with Turkish side Galatasaray being reported to be keenly interested in the forward’s signature.
Campbell is enjoying a running in the first team due to the poor form of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the injuries to Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
Campbell is contracted to the Gunners till 2018 and so Arsenal still have enough time to sit down and access Campbell’s improvement before they could offer an increment on his existing pay package.
He is likely to lose his place in the first team once Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck returns to the first team squad fully but if he keeps improving his game, it won’t be long before he would be offered new contract as other clubs would ne interested in his service.
Campbell earns around 30,000 pounds a week that’s 39,000 euros if converted.
