Arsenal confident Of Completing Deal For This £65,000-a-week Star, Social Media Already Buzzing

Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.

Arsenal are set to open contract talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to report.

The Gunners are set to extend the deal of the England international who contract expires in the summer of 2018.

The Gunners are acting to secure his future on the long term with reports emerging last month that Chelsea are lining up Oxlade-Chamberlain as a potential replacement for Edin Hazard who is a transfer target for Real Madrid in the summer.

The 22 year old winger has been in poor form so far this season, he has failed to find the back of the net and has also lost his place to the rejuvenated Joe Campbell; who has finally found playing time in the Gunners first team due to injuries to some first team players in the Gunners squad.

Arsene Wenger signed Oxlade-Chamberlain from Southampton in 2011 as a 17 year old for a fee of around £15 Million on a long term deal believed to be 7 years.

However, Injuries have hampered Oxlade-Chamberlain’s progress most times as he is yet to enjoy an injury free season for the Gunners.

He needs consistency for the Gunners if he is to make the England team for the European Championship as he is currently behind team mate Theo Walcott and Raheem Sterling as England first choice wingers. But Wenger retains faith in the youngster which is why the French tactician wants to extend his deal at the Emirates despite 2 and a half years remaining.
