Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will again exploit the possibility of bringing long time target Victor Wanyama to the Emirates.
The departure of Wanyama’s midfield partner Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United meant Southampton were unable to entertain any offers last summer when Arsenal and North London rivals Tottenham came calling.
Manager Ronald Koeman who originally declared publicly that he will not be forced to sell any more of his assets seems to have been left with no choice with Wanyama refusing to sign a contract extension. The Kenyan International will be in the final year of his contract come summer and the Daily Telegraph via the Metro claim The Saints prefer to cash in on him this year as they do not want to lose him for free next year.
The midfield powerhouse has been open to a move to Arsenal in the past and said in April: “Wenger has been talking about me. He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer.
“Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.”
Should he arrive at the Emirates next summer, the midfielder will bring the much steel to the Arsenal midfield as well serious competition for Francis Coquelin.
