Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal transfer target, Granit Xhaka who has been heavily linked with a move away from his German side Borussia Monchengladbach has given a little hint about where his next destination could be as he revealed to German outlet Tor Fabrik via Metro that his desire is to play in the Premier League and admitted he’d pick the no.34 shirt at Arsenal which has already been taken by Francis Coquelin as he said it was his first squad number and he had it tattooed on his back.
The Borussia Monchengladbach skipper is of interest to the Gunners but it appears that this would on end as a mere speculation with the Gunners already completed the signing of Mohamed Elneny from Xhaka’s former side FC Basel while the Gunners are more interested in Southampton’s Kenyan international midfielder; Victor Wanyama to join the team in the summer after Southampton refused selling the tough tackling midfielder in the January transfer window.
The Switzerland international has a release clause of £21 Million on his current contract that would be activated in 2017. Xhaka has been impressive for Monchengladbach since he joined the team from Basel in 2012 and has scored three times in 16 appearances for the side this season. So maybe Xhaka is a player in the Gunners radar for the future and not for the present.
