Former Arsenal striker and Bournemouth striker believes the Gunners will find it difficult to win the league this season, according to report in the Daily Express.
Afobe who recently joined Bournemouth after he left the Gunners a year ago faced his former team for the first time last weekend. Although his current side suffered defeat in the hands of his former employers, Afobe does not think the Gunners will be top of the table at the end of the season.
When asked about the Gunners chances of winning the league, Afobe said:
“It would be great if Arsenal win the title but it has been the same story every year.”
“This is the time of the season when they normally fall behind and start losing games they should be winning.
“They obviously have a lot of world-class players and I have only good things to say about them.
“But there are a lot of fantastic teams fighting them for the title this year and also a lot of teams no-one believed could be in the race.
“No one expected Tottenham would be challenging to win the league and Leicester as well. So Arsenal’s next game against Leicester this Sunday is obviously massive.”
The Gunners were top of the league table at the beginning of the year but have lost the top spot to Leicester City after Wenger’s men failed to win against Stoke City, Chelsea and Southampton.
