Arsenal Legend Gilberto Silva has revealed that his former manager Arsene Wenger could remain at th Emirates beyond the duration of his current contract, according to the Daily Express.
The midfielder who played under the French man for six years thinks the coach might stay longer than expected.
The manager recently claimed he needs to leave a legacy in place at Arsenal before quitting the club and also hinted that 2017 could be the right time to do so but Gilberto Silva believes Wenger could shock many by staying beyond 2017.
“Arsene has been under pressure for quite a long time. It has not been easy for him because for many people when they look at the Premier League they look back at the successful seasons,” Gilberto said speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“He has tried to do the best that he can in the past few years and people must believe in what he is doing.
“Of course the fans expect to win titles and winning the Premier League will relieve the pressure. More than any player he is essential to that.
“We never know what Arsene will do. Every time his contract comes to an end we think this will be his last season.
“He loves the club and being on the field, doing what he does best which is thinking about football.
“I think he will last for as long as he can and for as long as he’s happy.”
