Charlton Athletic midfielder Jordan Cousins says his teammate Ademola Lookman was right to snub a move to Arsenal in the last winter transfer window.
The Gunners were reportedly interested in signing the striker and made attempts to lure the young Lookman away from Charlton Athletic but the striker chose to remain at the Championship club in order to continue his development.
Wenger had received glowing reports on the 18 year old striker who made his debut last year and was keen to snap up the striker before rival clubs circle in.
The French man was left disappointed after the striker opted against a move to North London and his teammate has applauded his courage to reject the Gunners.
Cousins told News Shopper: “I speak to him regularly and I think he’s very comfortable where he is right now.
“If he asked for my advice, I’d tell him that this is the best place for you right now. Who knows what’s going to happen in six months’ time?
“But right now he’s playing games, he’s gaining experience and getting better – so why would you want to go to a big club and perhaps struggle to play?
“And he knows that, he’s not stupid and I’m sure he’s getting the right guidance.”
Cousins went ahead to talk about the player’s quality and temperament, claiming his temperament is as good as his quality. According to Cousins, the player is destined for the top and have a bright future ahead of him and taking it step by step by remaining at Charlton was the right thing to do.
Ademola Lookman made his debut for Charlton Athletic in November 2015 and has already scored four goals in ten appearances for the Championship side.
