Arsenal boss Arsense Wenger has revealed that Alex Iwobi will remain with the first team and get games instead of going out on Loan, according to the Metro.
Teams in England including Arsenal make use of the loan system to enable youngsters get more first team experience instead of sitting on the bench or playing in the Under21 level at the parent club but Wenger has insisted that Iwobi won’t be joining the club’s other youngsters out on loan.
Iwobi, 19, was officially promoted to the Gunners first team this season and having made just eight first team appearances this term, many expected the youngster to go out on loan especially as the emergency loan transfer window is still open. But Wenger have decided he will continue with the first team, speaking to the media, Wenger said:
‘I have a hesitation about loaning him out.’
‘It’s because I think this guy could very quickly play. He can play on the left, he can play on the right, he can play behind the striker, even number nine.
‘He’s one who when he was a kid could pass by if you don’t watch well in training but I personally like his game.
‘He’s very interesting.’
The 19 year old is highly rated at the Emirates and Wenger’s insistence to keep him in the first team has shown the amount of faith the manager has in the 19 year old ability. Iwobi is full time Nigeria international and has played two game for the African side.
