Arsene Wenger has talked up the potential of the club’s youngster Alex Iwobi and has officially promoted him to the first team after being impressed by the youngster’s performances, .
Iwobi, 19, is highly rated at the Emirates and Wenger is reportedly impressed with his contributions to the Gunners squad this season.
The midfielder who has been dubbed the “perfect” player by the club’s youth team manager because of his talent and dedication has now received praise from Wenger.
“It’s a very important moment,” Wenger said. “Everybody has to fight hard here to get into the first-team dressing room.
“He came through the youth ranks and he has made it quietly, slowly, but remarkably. Personally I believe this boy will be a great player for Arsenal Football Club. He has all the ingredients, not just on the football front but also mentally.
“He’s intelligent, motivated, focused every day, has a consistent attitude and I’m very happy for him. I hope he will be with the first team for a long time.”
Iwobi has made eight appearances for the Gunners this term which includes the club’s FA cup game against Burnley.
The midfielder has also featured in four league games from the Gunners bench and will be hoping to add more game time under his belt before the end of the season.
