Former Chelsea manager believes Arsenal are closing the gap between themselves and Barcelona in terms of quality.
The Gunners will face Barcelona this week in this season’s Uefa Champions league second round fixture and although many believe the Catalan giants are clear favourites to progress to the next round, Ancelotti believes the Gunners have a chance to progress to the next round.
“Arsene Wenger has changed their style of play, they’re playing more on the counterattack, using the skills of their strikers – Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez,” Ancelotti told .
“Maybe they’ve closed the gap but Barcelona are really strong.”
The match against Barcelona will be the toughest test for the Gunners all season and should the club qualify to the next round ahead of the current Champions, it could go a long way in aiding the club’s attempt to win the traditional treble.
Mesut Ozil has previously talked up this clash and the German international believes the Gunners have a chance to shock Barcelona and should it happen it could give the team the much needed impetus and self belief to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble.
Arsenal will be home on against Barcelona in the first leg tie with the reverse fixture taking place in two weeks time.
The Last time both sides met in the competition, Barcelona qualified 4-3 on aggregate score despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at the Emirates.
