Arsenal legend Kanu Nwankwo has joined Arsene Wenger in talking up the Potential of Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi.

The forward who was recently promoted to the Gunners first team has received praises from both his youth team manager and Arsene Wenger in recent weeks. Nwankwo Kanu has followed suit and the former Arsenal striker believes Iwobi will be an important member of the Gunners first team in the future.

Kanu believes the youngster who decided to play for Nigeria will be able to use his talent and ability to get the African country back to where they should be in world football.

Speaking to the Gunners’ official website, Kanu said:

‘He is a young lad and he has all it takes. He just needs to work hard and keep his head down and keep pushing so he gets his chance.

‘Football is all about chances and when you have the opportunity you have to grab it. I believe he is going to make his mark. He is from Nigeria and we all support him and love him.

‘He is the star we are looking for. He is going to learn a lot from Arsène Wenger and the club he is playing for – we need him to bring that back home and make sure he can help the national team.

‘[He just needs to] keep his head down and not get carried away with a lot of things. Every day you train, you have to train on your weaknesses. With your strengths, you know them so you have to use them in the game.’

Iwobi has already featured for the Gunners in the Premier League four times this season and put up a man of the match display for Arsenal against Hull City in the FA Cup over the weekend.
