Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has spoken on the constant links of strikers with the Gunners and has claimed the links make him want to perform better for the club, as per the Mirror.
Many fans and pundits think the striker who has scored 18 goals already this season is not the calibre of striker that should be leading the line for the Gunners should they realistically want to win titles but the front man has revealed that constant reports linking other strikers with Arsenal motivates him to do better and he is so determined to prove his critics wrong.
“Obviously it helps to motivate you because when you are in your comfort zone, I think you maybe don’t give your best.
“So it helps sometimes to have speculation like that, to prove that you deserve your place in the team.
“It’s part of the job.
“In every single transfer period, there is some other striker’s name coming out as a possible new signing.
“You have to deal with that and keep focused on the team and to help the team try to win every single game. You have to give your best and that’s what I tried to do.
“I’m pleased with my first half of the season so far.”
The striker joined Arsenal from Montpeiller in 2012 and has 53 league goals to his name since moving to the Emirates.
