Arsenal have received green light in their attempts to sign Charlton Athletic midfielder Ademola Lookman, according to reports.
The Gunners were reportedly interested in signing the striker in last month’s transfer window and made attempts to lure the striker away from Charlton Athletic but the 18 year old chose to remain at the Championship club in order to continue his development.
Wenger had received glowing reports on the striker and his persistence in his attempts to sign the 18 year old could now pay off as Charlton Athletic have decided to cash in on the player at the end of the current campaign, according to the Daily Mail.
The Championship club is looking to sign the striker on a new deal in order to drive his price upwards in the summer and should the club receive a massive bid, they will sell the striker.
According to report, the new deal offered to the striker by Charlton Athletic is a ploy to get as much money as they can for the striker rather than a statement of intent of keeping him.
Lookman made his debut for the Championship club in November last year and has been superb since breaking into the club’s first team.
The young striker already has four goals to his name this season in just eight starts for his club.
