Arsenal player-coach has signed a new contract with the Gunners ladies, according to the club’s official website.

The striker who already has 100 goals to her name put pen on a new deal with the Gunners ladies earlier this week.

The striker will also use her vast experience to assist Arsenal ladies manager Pedro Martinez Losa while continuing her duties on the pitch.

Manager Pedro Losa has insisted that the striker has an important role to play for the team and he is looking forward to working with her on the touchline.

“She is going to be focused on her football this year.” Losa told

“She is part of our staff and she is always welcome to give her thoughts and we are always open to receive her feedback.

“Her role in the team is to now be the link in the squad between the staff and the squad and she understands that very well. Her experience and how she works with the players is really important and we can use that in the group.

“She is fit now and she is mentally great. She is enjoying her football and I think she is going to help us in games. She can come into the game and change it. She is a player who can change it in a minute by scoring a goal. The character she brings is going to help us.

“Kelly loves the club so it is a love relationship. We are very proud to create those type of relationships, not only the football ones. For me, it is really important and we think we all made the right decision.

“She is putting effort in to develop herself as a coach and a member of staff and we are very happy to work together.

She has time to develop to her coaching career, which is just starting for her, but she has to be patient.”

Kelly Smith is currently England’s women all time highest goal scorer.
