Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez knows he is struggling on the pitch ahead of this weekend’s game against Manchester United, according to reports.
The midfielder who is yet to impress with his performances since returning from injury is said to be aware of his struggles.
The midfielder was criticized by Joey Barton after his performance against Barcelona on Tuesday and the former QPR midfielder claimed Alexis has failed to prove he is a match winner that many thought he was.
Wenger in his pre match press conference has backed the Chilean winger to recover his form.
“He’s a highly-motivated player, he’s conscious of his struggles. Let’s focus on the team performance, every individual will benefit.“
Wenger will be hoping his winger hit the ground running against Manchester United on Sunday as he turns his attention to winning the Premier League after Tuesday’s result against Barcelona in the Champions league.
“It’s the period of the season where you can show quality and nerves. And desire as well.
“We focus on the Premier League. We’ve put ourselves in a strong position again. We want to take advantage of our good run.
“Everybody drops points, it’s very unpredictable. We’re on a good run in the Premier League. We want to get over the disappointment of Barcelona and focus on the Premier League.
Sanchez has scored 22 league goals in 53 appearances since joining the Gunners in 2014.
