Arsenal are planning a double raid on Newcastle united when the summer transfer window opens in July.

According to the Daily Mail, citing clubcall as it source, Arsene Wenger is prepared to bring Newcastle’s 19 year old defender Freddie Woodman to the Emirates this summer.

The young goalkeeper’s contract at Newcastle is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and Wenger is interested in signing the youngster on a free.

Gunners’ current second choice goalie David Ospina is currently unhappy with his lack of playing time at the Emirates this term and has already decided to quit the club this summer.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wozcieh Szczeny who is currently on loan at Roma is reportedly open to the idea of staying at the Italian capital beyond the current campaign and is not interested in playing second fiddle to Petr Cech at the Emirates. This has forced Wenger to consider bringing in goalkeeping reinforcements in the summer and the French man has joined Tottenham and Liverpool in the race to sign Woodward.

Another Newcastle player who is also attracting Wenger’s interest is Rolando Aarons. The winger is in the last year of his contract and the Gunners will try to tempt him to the Emirates. However the club could face competition from Italian duo AC Milan and Juventus.

Aarons his however hopeful of signing a new contract and becoming a first team regular at Newcastle. However should Arsenal make their interest concrete in the winger, he wouldn’t want to miss out on a move to a big club.
