Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has urged the side to beat Swansea City on Wednesday in order to get back on track in the title race, as per standard sport.
The Gunners failed a huge test in the title race on Sunday when they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United and Cech has urged his teammates to move away quickly from the disappointment and focus on the upcoming games.
The Gunners will host Swansea at the Emirates before travelling to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham and Cech believes claiming maximum points from those games will put the team back to where they want to be.
“It is a step back but we can still make up for this,” Cech said.
“We have two important games coming up this week and if we managed to win both, the table might look different again.
“We still have a chance so we will go for it until the last minute. Obviously this was a big disappointment for us and is a step back after last week when we managed to overcome a deficit against Leicester at home. We need to keep working.”
The Goalkeeper talked on the game against Manchester United and believes individual mistakes in United’s first two goals as well as a slice of luck in the third goal helped the Old Trafford side to victory.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game but in a game like this, you can make mistakes and we were punished for those,” said Cech.
“Every time we made a mistake at the back, they scored. At the end they scored a third goal which was a lucky one for them and that was a decisive goal because if we had come back to 2-2 we would have had a chance to win the game. At 3-1 down, you try to get a goal as soon as possible which we managed to do but we didn’t have enough time or create enough in the final 10 minutes.”
Cech who has been crucial for the Gunners all season will be hoping his teammates make ammends in upcoming games while he continues to do his bit at the back.
