Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez at the end of the current season, according to reports.
The midfielder was linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window after failing to retain a regular spot in Diego Simeone’s first team but injury to Tiago forced Atletico Madrid to block the midfielder’s exit.
And now, Spanish publication AS are reporting that Arsenal are interested in signing the 21 year old midfielder this summer following his recent rich vein of form in recent weeks.
The club are reportedly preparing for a major overhaul of the midfield in the summer which could see as much as three midfielder’s leave the club and Wenger who already claimed he has been given a large transfer kitty for the summer is already lining up potential taargets.
Saul has now joined the long list of Wanyama, Xhaka and Micheal Carrick and others as potential summer arrivals at the Emirates.
The report also claims Atletico want to sign Saul on a new deal in order to remove £18.6m release clause in his current deal and he is demanding a salary of £74,000 before he will sign a new deal. Arsenal are looking to take advantage of the player’s situation at the Vincente Calderon by activating the current release clause.
His performances this term have pushed him into contention for a place in Spain’s Euro 2016 travelling squad. Manchester United are also interested in the midfielder and could rival Arsenal for Saul’s signature.
