Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.

The Spanish club are preparing to revamp their striking options in the summer and are looking to let Fernando Torres leave the club after allowing Jackson Martinez move to China and are now interested in signing Alexis Sanchez next summer in a bid to strengthen up their attack as they try to improve their squad.

The Madrid based club were interested in signing the midfielder two years ago when he was at Barcelona but Wenger moved quickly to snap the winger ahead of the Spanish club.

According to Spanish Outlet Don Balon via the Metro, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is a fan of the Chile international and has told his club hierarchy that Sanchez is the man he wants next summer.

The report also claims the Spanish club are determined to sign the forward this summer after missing out on his signature two years ago.

However, Alexis Sanchez has stated he is happy at the Emirates and he is likely to reject any move from Atletico Madrid. Speaking after the club’s defeat to Barcelona last month, Sanchez said: “Tuesday in the Champions League was a difficult game. But Arsenal’s support was great.

“I’m very happy here as Arsenal is now my family – it’s great fun. Now the focus is on the Premier League.

“We are in a position for the title.

The midfielder has struggled to replicate his early season form for the Gunners since returning to action from injury in late January. However, many will be hoping his goal against Tottenham on Saturday will lead the player to recover his superb form as we enter into the final stages of the season.

Earlier in the season, Manchester City and Real Madrid were also linked with a move to sign the forward in the summer but with his recent comments, we are hopeful we will see the striker turning out for Arsenal next season.
