Leicester City have offered defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante a new deal in order to ward off interest from the likes of Arsenal, via The Mirror.
Kante is reportedly a summer target for Arsenal as the Gunners have identified him as an option should they miss out on Southampton’s Victor Wanyama in the summer. It is believed that the Gunners are preparing a bid worth as much as £20m as Wenger tries to re-enforce his midfield options.
The 24 year old who moved to Leicester City for less than £6m from French club Caen is currently one of the league’s best performers and he is now being touted as the best signing of the summer.
According to the report, Leicester City plan to give the midfielder a mouth watering new deal in order to keep him away from potential suitors.
Kante’s superb performances this term has earned him a call up to the French national team as the Les Blues boss Didier Deschamps revealed last month that Kante is in his plans for the Euro 2016 championships. The news will come as a big blow to Gunner’s midfielder Francis Coquelin who plays the same position as Kante and has been impressive for the Gunners since last year. Coquelin recently stated that he hasn’t heard anything from the French national team boss concerning a national team call up. This shows how impressive Kante has been this term.
