Barcelona are monitoring Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.

The midfielder has been in superb form this term and has been one of the key men for Leicester City this term as the Foxes continue their title race and his performances have attracted a number of clubs from both within and outside England.

According to Spanish publication Don Balon via the Daily Star, Barcelona are monitoring Mahrez. The midfielder was linked with a move to the Emirates in the winter transfer window and Wenger who is reportedly keeping an eye on the midfielder ahead of a summer move won’t be too comfortable with reports from Spain.

Wenger had revealed in the past that his Fr/ench scouting network missed out on Mahrez prior to his switch to Leicester City and the French man would definitely be keen not to miss out again the second time.

“I didn’t know him honestly, he played in the second division in France,” Wenger said last month.

“He has developed extremely well; today he is one of the dominant players in the Premier League.

“It is important to know that with quality work, quality scouting and quality management you can have great results.”

Mahrez already has 15 goals and 11 assists in 28 premier league game this season with his latest goal coming in Leicester’s 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday evening to extend their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Mahrez performances this term has also tipped him to win the PFA player of the year for this season.
