Hull City boss Steve Bruce have called the idea that Wenger should be axed ridiculous, according to the Daily Mail.

Wenger who has been at the club for 20 years is currently the longest serving boss in the Premier League although he has failed to win a league title in over 10 years, he is still regarded as one of the best manager in the league.

There have been speculations regarding  Wenger’s future at the Emirates since the club’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona last month but Bruce has slammed those reports claiming Wenger has done an excellent job at the club and he deserves to continue.

“Arsene has been an excellent manager for Arsenal for 20 years now, and I find it ridiculous that he’s having a bit of criticism right now,” Bruce said.

“I suppose that’s part and parcel of being a football manager at the moment, but how anyone can criticise him is beyond me with what he’s achieved”.

“From inside the game you’re not going to hear people criticising him because when you’re in management for as long as he’s been and done what he’s done, who is anyone to criticise him?

“I find it appalling that they can. He’s helped build a fantastic

club, he’s helped finance it by selling players, he’s never been able to really compete in the transfer market like others at a top club have, but he’s kept them in the top four for 17 or 18 years.

“So for me he would only get one thing and that is respect.

He deserves a bit more than what he gets dished out, considering what he’s achieved.

“It’s very difficult to win a title. Manchester United went 26 years before they won 10 of them.

“Liverpool have gone 20-odd years. With the emergence of Chelsea and Manchester City over the last decade then it is very difficult for any club to win a title, it doesn’t just come.

“What Arsene has achieved with Arsenal is nothing short of remarkable. I think you have to put into context exactly what he has done.”

“Arsenal have got a bit of class and I also associate Arsene Wenger with having a bit of class too.”
