Barcelona are preparing a stunning summer move for Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, according to reports.

The German is currently in superb form for the Gunners and has been one of the team’s best performers this season.

The midfielder was in the news earlier in the week when it was claimed that he had told the club he will leave this summer should Wenger remain as manager. Ozil strongly denied those reports and claimed Wenger was the reason he moved to Arsenal.

Ozil  tweeted: “Arsene Wenger was a big reason for me joining Arsenal – this hasn’t changed! #Respect #AFC.”

But Spanish publication via the Express claims Barcelona are already working on a deal to bring the German to Camp Nou. It is believed that the club’s technical director Roberto Fernandez is already making plans to sign the midfielder this summer.

The report claims Barcelona are willing to sell three players to fund the move, summer signing Arda Turan, Munir and Sandro will be allowed to leave the Camp Nou.

Arsenal are not interested in selling Ozil and are prepared to initiate contract talks regarding a new deal with the midfielder. However, should Wenger decide to cash in on the midfielder, Wenger would face a huge obstacle as his former club Real Madrid reportedly inserted a buy back clause in his contract when switching the Bernabeu for the Emirates. It could be more difficult for Barcelona, as Arsenal must inform Real Madrid before selling Ozil to another Spanish club and the Madrid-Barcelona rivalry will be a stumbling block.
