Arsenal now have a new rival in the race to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho has earmarked Morata as a potential target should he take over as Manchester United boss at the end of the season.
Wenger is reportedly interested in signing the striker and has already made contact with the player’s representatives. The striker has been linked with a move to the Emirates since his time at the Bernabeu and with the player’s future in Turin in doubt, Wenger is reportedly prepared to swoop for the striker by offering a £50m bid.
But according to Spanish publication Marca via the Daily Star, Mourinho is interested in signing Alvaro Morata for Manchester United should he take over at Old Trafford.
Real Madrid are interested in activating the £27m recall clause in the player’s contract and will immediately look to sell the player for a higher fee. However, they may also decide to keep the striker should he impress in this summer’s Euro 2016 championships.
Liverpool are also interested in the striker and the 23-year old recently praised the Premier League and claimed he wouldn’t mind playing there in the future.
He said: “I like it. I like it a lot due to the characteristics of its football and because it’s more attractive for a striker as it’s not as tactical as Italian football.”
