Arsenal are close to completing a move for former Chelsea academy midfielder Domingos Quina, according to reports.
Quina,16, is a Portugal U17 international who has been on the books of Chelsea since he was 13. The 16-year-old midfielder recently walked out of the West London club after being disillusioned with life at the club.
It is believed that lack of progress towards the first team was the main reason Quina decided to quit the club and he could now complete a move to Arsenal in the next few hours.
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool also tried to sign the youngster but it is Arsenal who is expected to complete the deal in the next 24 hours.
Should Quina complete the move to Arsenal, he will be joining one of the best academies in the country and will also be under the supervision of Arsene Wenger who is well known for giving youngsters the chance to make it into the first team.
Quina will also have to work harder as he is likely to join a pool of highly talented youngsters in the club as Wenger recently revealed few weeks ago we currently have a fantastic generation of youngsters at the club.
‘We have a fantastic generation coming,’ Wenger explained.
‘Between 16 and 20 we have a great generation.
‘It’s very exciting for the club.’
Quina first played for Benfica before moving to London in 2012.
