Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan has revealed that he would have considered a move to Arsenal had he not been able to secure a move to Barcelona.
Turan, 29, was a summer signing for Barcelona and despite interest from Premier League clubs in his services when he decided to leave Atletico Madrid, the Turkey international opted for a move to the Camp Nou knowing he won’t be able to feature for the Spanish giants until this year.
The 29 year old has revealed he decided to move to Barcelona because of Luis Enrique’s men style of football. He also added that his style of play suited that of Barcelona and Arsenal and he could have considered being a Gunner had he not merited a switch to the Camp Nou.
Speaking during the recent international break, Turan said in an interview with Diari Ara: “I felt that I would sign for Barca, as quoted by ESPN.
Honestly, I thought: ‘If I play very well I’ll end up signing for Barca, because my style fits this team. If I play well, finish at Arsenal.’
“For my style, with ball, playing easy, short, aggressive when needed, but especially good, I knew I could get here in Barcelona.”
Turan has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks with reports claiming Barcelona are prepared to offer him in a swap deal that will take Mesut Ozil the other way.
The midfielder has scored two goals in twelve league appearances for Barcelona since he made his debut in January.
