On loan goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny has revealed his intentions to remain with AS Roma beyond the current campaign.
The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Merseyside with Liverpool and Everton reportedly keen on his services. It was claimed that Roma are not interested in extending the Pole’s stay at the Italian capital and have moved to sign Internacional goalkeeper Allison.
However, Szczesny has revealed he is keen on staying at Roma for another season should Wenger not consider him in his first team plans next term.
The goalkeeper stressed the need to play regularly and with Petr Cech at the Emirates, the possibility of Szczesny playing regularly at the Emirates next term looks very slim.
‘Will I stay at Roma? For me, football always comes first,’ said the Poland international, as quoted by the Metro.
‘I have the confidence of everyone here.
‘When you have the trust of your teammates, the Coach and the fans, as well as playing every Sunday, then that can only be for the best.
‘Obviously it’s not just thanks to me, but everyone who has helped me.’
Szczesny left the Emirates on a season long loan last summer after Cech arrived at the club for a fee of £10m from Chelsea. It is yet unknown if the Italian club will be interested in extending the loan deal of the goalkeeper who has made 26 league appearances this season but one thing is almost certain, Szczesny will likely be playing away from the Emirates next season.
