Arsenal are on the verge of agreeing a contract extension with in form winger Alex Iwobi, according to football insider.
The 19 year old Nigeria international recently broke into the first team and has impressed fans and pundits with his performance on the pitch.
The young playmaker is now set to be rewarded with a new deal worth a total of £5.2m. The club and the players representatives are in advanced negotiations regarding a five year deal that will see the 19 year old’s salary increased to £20,000 a week.
The talks were initiated during the recent international break and both parties are confident the deal will be done as soon as possible.
The midfielder who scored and assisted in the Gunners 4-0 win over Watford last weekend is overjoyed with his performances this season and says its a dream come true.
Iwobi is now hoping to end a wonderful season for him on a personal note by hoping the team catch up with Leicester City in the title race and beat the Foxes to the title in May.
“Happy for the team, glad we won. It’s all for the team and I’m glad we’ve got the three points,” Iwobi said.
“When you’re young you dream of this and this is like a dream come true, winning with this team.
“Winning the title would be amazing but we’re taking each game as it comes, game by game, and we’ll see where we end up come the end of the season.”
