Arsenal’s Nigerian attacking midfield sensation Alex Iwobi is set to agree a new deal worth a total of £5.2 million in no distant time.
The 19-year-old who broke into the first team this season, and scored his second league goal against Watford in just his second league start on Saturday, has been vital to Arsenal’s late season resurgence with some impressive performances.
Iwobi who also became a full Nigerian international this season had previously been the least paid first team player, earning around £850 per week. That is set to change with reports that a contract set to increase his pay to £20,000 per week is set to be signed soon.
Arsenal are said to have offered him a five-year improved contract as a reward for his fine performances recently, which has seen him remove Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell from the starting lineup. Talks were reportedly opened with his representatives during the international break.
The deal will see him earn around the same pay as other hot prospects at the club.
