With Wenger prepared to improve his squad ahead of next season, the manager has identified the midfield position as one area where he needs reinforcements.
The French tactician’s decision to improve the midfield is set to force a number of players out of the club and one of them includes 32 year old Mathieu Flamini.
The Frenchman is expected to be told by Arsene Wenger that his time is up at the club and would be shown the exit door this summer.
The midfielder’s contract at the club expires at the end of the current season and It was expected that should Arsenal release the 32 year old, a return to the Serie A would be a more likely destination for the defensive midfielder in order for him to be closer to his multi million dollar energy industry.
But according to Italian publication sportmediaset via talkSport, Flamini could end up in America. The midfielder is expected to begin talks with some MLS side over a summer move.
Flamini has made a total of 168 league appearance as a Gunner during his two spells in the club and has won three FA Cup titles.
Should he complete a move to the MLS, he will join former Premier League Stars, Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard in America’s top flight football competition.
