Arsene Wenger is keeping tabs on AC Milan starlet Manuel Locatelli, according to reports.
The Gunners have been watching the central midfielder for quite sometime and Wenger is said to be impressed by the midfielder’s score card.
The 18 year old who is dubbed the “new Andrea Pirlo” is highly rated in Italy and is regarded as one of the most talented midfielders of his generation.
Arsene Wenger has been working hard to improve the club’s academy in recent years and has moved to bolster his scouting department in recent months and that is beginning to yield results as the club is now being linked with one of the best prospects in Italy.
According to Goal, Gunner’s scouts have been monitoring the midfielder for several months. The midfielder has impressed Wenger and the club have contacted the player’s agent already.
Arsenal have not contacted Milan yet but it is understood the Italian club are not prepared to entertain any offers for the teenage prodigy.
The report also claims Milan have given the midfielder first team assurances ahead of next season something Wenger cannot do due to the competition for places at the Emirates.
Locattelli is yet to make his first team debut for Milan but he however has been very impressive for Milan and Italy youth sides in recent months.
