Arsenal are monitoring FC Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira, ahead of a potential summer move, according to reports.

Wenger has reportedly identified the central/defensive midfield position as a key area he is looking to strengthen this summer; which would see players such as Mathieu Flamini leave the club at the end of the season.

The club has been linked with lots of midfielders with reports claiming Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is Wenger’s top priority.

Last month, reports even claimed the Gunners had already informed Monchengladbach they are willing to meet the player’s £35m valuation. That report appears to have been corrected by German publication Bild who claims the Gunners have not held any meeting with Monchengladbach concerning Xhaka.

When asked about the rumours linking the club with several midfielders, Arsene Wenger revealed the club is in the process of compiling its list of summer targets and it appears FC Porto Danilo is part of that list.

According to A Bola via the Metro, Arsenal had chief scout Boa Morte present in Porto’s game against Tondella as the club continues to compile reports on Danilo.

Danilo was also linked with a move to the Emirates in the last winter transfer window but Wenger opted to sign Mohamed Elneny instead.

Danilo thus far this season has scored four goals in 26 appearances for FC Porto from the defensive midfield position and Wenger is very much interested in signing the player who has spent less than a year at Porto.

Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, a long term target of Arsenal is also being watched by Boa Morte.
