Former Tottenham man Ledley King has revealed Spurs main aim this season is to finish above Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino men currently sit second on the Premier League log table six points ahead of Arsenal and seven points behind league leaders Leicester City. It is obvious that Spurs can still nick the title from Leicester’s grasp but King has now revealed his former side is more focused on Arsenal and winning the title is only a bonus.
Tottenham have never finished above Arsenal since Wenger took over in 1996 and King believes it will be a perfect end to the season should Pochettino lead his troops to finish above Wenger’s.
“The fans would certainly enjoy that [finishing above Arsenal],” King told The Sun, as quoted by the Daily Star.
“Finishing in the top four was the aim at the start of the season. To be in with a chance to win the league is a bonus.
“Now the main aim is to finish above Arsenal.”
King’s statement wouldn’t go down too well with Arsenal fans who currently have the bragging rights over their North London counterparts.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright recently suggested that should Tottenham finish above Arsenal this season, it could cause a powershift in North London and the Gooners will be hoping that doesn’t happen.
