Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has declared his love for Mikel Arteta claiming the relationship between them is very good but remained coy on a possible transfer swoop.
The pair played together at Paris Saint-Germain when Arteta was 17 with Pochettino nearing the end of his playing career
Arteta is expected be released by Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season and could retire from playing and follow the footsteps of his friend and delve into management.
Reports emerged last week that Pochettino is interested in luring the midfielder to White Hart Lane and offer him a role in his first team coaching crew but when asked about the reports linking his former teammate with a move to Tottenham, Pochettino refused to say much.
“I love him and he loves me,” he told reporters, “You know our history from Paris St Germain, when he was 17 and I was the captain, he said as quoted by Goal.”
“We have a very good relationship. The thing is rumours and you know I never speak about rumours.”
Pep Guardiola is reportedly also interested in offering Mikel Arteta a coaching role at the Etihad if the former Everton man retires at the end of the current campaign.
Arteta already has coaching spells with the Gunners under 13’s and Wales Under 16’s in the past
