Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Shoot.co.uk.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates with some reports even claiming the Gunners are prepared to do whatever it takes to sign the Gabonese international.
According to recent developments, Wenger has now turned his attentions to signing Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and has dropped his interest in Aubameyang.
Manchester United have been linked with signing the BVB forward but the Premier League club is set to be disappointed as well because the striker favours a move to Real Madrid.
Aubameyang has previously insisted he wants to remain at BVB beyond the current campaign and he isn’t interested in a move to the Premier League but the Gabonese striker has also talked up his dream move to Real Madrid.
He told L’Equipe in February: “My childhood dream? To play at Real Madrid.
“In 2014, before he died, I promised my grandfather who was from Avila, 110 kilometers from Madrid, that I would play there. It will be complicated, but it sits in a corner of my head.
“When I was a kid, I watched Hugo Sanchez videos. The backflip I sometimes do when I score is actually an homage to him.
“Real Madrid, or another great Spanish club, would also be a great gift to my mother.”
Aubameyang has scored 78 goals in 138 appearances for BVB since moving to the club from St Ettiene in 2013
