Arsene Wenger is interested in signing Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell this summer, according to the Mirror.
Wenger’s attempts to sign the 19-year-old in the January transfer window were declined by Leicester City not once but twice. The club was rebuffed with their original offer and also had a second bid rejected in the late hours of the winter transfer window.
Wenger has not given up on signing the young fullback and is weighing up a summer bid for the Leicester City man but the Foxes are set to end the Gunners hope of signing the fullback by convincing him to pen a new deal at the King Power Stadium. However, the Foxes are not finding it easy to convince the full back with big clubs circling around the 19-year-old.
Wenger sees Chilwell as a perfect replacement for Kieran Gibbs who could leave the club this summer. The defender who is a product of Leicester City’s academy attracted England’s big clubs with his performances for Leicester City under21 side last season.
The 19 year old made his professional debut for Leicester City in October when he featured against Hull City in the Capital one cup but has failed to feature regularly for Claudio Ranieri’s men in recent months which could be attributed to the Foxes involvement in the title race.
