Arsene Wenger is looking to bring back Italian shotstopper Emiliano Viviano back to the Emirates, according to reports.
There have been talks regarding the goalkeeping department at the Emirates with David Ospina reportedly interested in leaving the club in search of regular first team football while Wojciech Szczesny is uninterested in coming back to the Emirates to sit on the bench as back up to Petr Cech. The latest developments now points to Wenger turning his attention to a man he his familiar with.
The Daily Star says Wenger is looking to bring Viviano back to the club this summer as one of the two back up goalkeepers.
The news will come as a surprise to Arsenal fans especially as Viviano spent the 2013/2014 season at Arsenal and failed to make a single league appearance for the first team.
The goalkeeper is currently with Sampdoria and is the Italian club’s first choice goalie and it is believed that Wenger has personally asked the club to sign the shot stopper on a permanent basis this summer.
However, Sampdoria manager Vincenzo Montella reluctant to sell the 30 year old goalkeeper and will do whatever needs to be done to keep the goalkeeper in his club.
Viviano has played for seven different clubs in his career.
