Arsenal were thought to have opened talks with Fulham over signing Greek international Kostas Manolas but it appears that was not the case.
Reports in Portugal claimed Arsenal were already in talks with Fulham and the striker’s representative with the hope of completing a £5.5m move as soon as possible.
However, Goal via the Daily Express now claims that there have been no contact between Arsenal and Fulham over signing the striker.
The Greek international who is currently on loan at Benfica for this campaign has been impressive and has bagged 19 goals in 28 appearances this season.
According to the report, the Portuguese side have the first refusal on the striker and are set to exercise that option by signing the forward permanently at the end of the season.
A move for the striker wouldn’t have gone down well with the Gooners who are demanding Wenger splash the cash to bring in a world-class centre-forward that will take the team to the next level. The striker’s dismal stint in the Premier League just two seasons ago after Fulham broke their transfer record to sign him for £14million is still very fresh in the Fans memory. Although many clubs are interested in signing the striker after an impressive campaign with Benfica, it appears that Arsenal isn’t one of them.
