Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has dismissed reports claiming he is close to completing a move to the Emirates.
It’s been reported by multiple sources that the Gunners are in advanced discussion with Monchengladbach over the sale of the midfielder but the player insists he is unaware of any offer made to secure his services.
According to Rheinische post via the Daily Star, Arsenal have made a concrete bid of £34m for the midfielder. The player revealed he was unaware of such developments but insists he is keen for his future to be resolved before the European championships.
He said:”I would like to know before the European Championship, where I play next year.
“I do not know if there is an offer.
“I’ve had four beautiful years at Monchengladbach and owe the club a lot.
“If it is true what the media write, we sit down together and decide.”
However, the German club has denied receiving any offer for the midfielder’s services as the club’s sporting director Max Eberl denies receiving an official offer.
Eberl said: “There is no new subject.
“That, of course, there is interest in such a player is clear.
“But there is no official offer.”
Xhaka is thought to be Wenger’s top target to strengthen his midfield and the French man is prepared to commit as much as £65m in both transfer fee and wages to sign the midfielder.
