Arsenal have been dealt a serious blow in its pursuit of Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante, via Sky Sports.
Wenger was reportedly interested in signing the midfielder this summer as he attempts to bolster his midfield options but the French man has been forced to turn to other targets as the midfielder is not interested in leaving the Premier League Champions.
The 25-year-old moved to the Premier League last summer and has impressed a number of top clubs in the country with his performances but he has revealed he would snub offers from big clubs to play in the Champions Legue with Leicester City.
“The Champions League next season will be new for me but I hear good things,” Kante said.
“We don’t know if they we can surprise in Europe, we have just joined at this moment, we will see. We have just done it for this season.
“When I came here I can’t imagine this, winning the title.
Now we did it. It has been a good moment, we have to enjoy it.”
Kante who was nominated for the 2016 PFA awards has attributed his good performances with Leicester City to the good work of the manager Claudio Ranieri.
“Ranieri is a good man, he did very good work and we are happy for him and everybody,” he added.
“I think it was the spirit of the team, we fight all the time and I think this is why we have done it.”
Arsenal are now reportedly close to signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka meaning Wenger is prepared to drop his interest in signing Kante.
