Middlesbrough are eyeing a move for outgoing Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini, according to reports.
The veteran midfielder is set to be released by Arsenal this summer when his contract expires at the end of the season and newly promoted Middlesbrough are keen to sign the midfielder.
Wenger, last week said the 32-year-old along with Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky will be missed when they leave this season but Boro are keen to make sure we keep seeing Flamini in the Premier League.
According to the Daily Star, Flamini is considering hanging his boots at the end of the season to focus on his multi-million biochemical business, but Boro boss Aitor Karanka is looking to convince the midfielder to continue his playing career at the Riverside.
A source close to the player revealed the midfielder is considering focusing on his business, saying:
“At only 32, Matty has plenty of life left in his legs and would be an asset for Boro going into the Premier League.
“It’s not a financial decision for Matty – his business is booming and he’ll soon be in the super rich bracket.”
