Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has revealed why he left Arsenal for Manchester City.

The French man became a Gunner in 2008 and played three seasons at the Emirates before he switched to Manchester City in 2011.

He was one of the numerous players that left in an era when the board had to sell some of its players to upset the debt of the new Emirates stadium but the manner in which he left irked the fans and since then the French man hasn’t enjoyed his return to the Emirates with City.

The midfielder now claims he doesn’t let the Gooner’s hate get to him and revealed why he left the club in 2011.

“Manchester City were a better team – that’s why I went there. It was my ambition, not because of the money.

“Whether you’re a fan or not, people should understand that, if a bigger company calls you, if you’re ambitious you’re going to go there.

“People don’t understand where I grew up… I came from nothing. Someone who tweets something or boos me, that isn’t going to affect me.

“It’s not you telling me I’m a mercenary or I’m a snake that’s going to affect me. It makes me laugh and makes me want to prove them wrong even more.”
