Arsene Wenger has revealed his pain at failing to lead the Gunners to the Premier League title in twelve consecutive years.
The Frenchman was speaking prior to the final game of the season against Aston Villa and he revealed he is as pained as the fans missing out on the Premier League title.
‘Defeats still hurt, yes,’ he said. ‘In fact they hurt worse than ever, because I don’t have 20 championships in front of me to win it.’
‘Defeat hurts the players and it hurts the fans,’ he added.
‘You could say more so as well, because it’s not against Manchester City, Chelsea or Man United, it’s against Leicester.
‘We beat them twice, it’s frustrating. But on the other hand sport is sport. Leicester didn’t steal the points, they got them on the pitch and you have to respect that as well.
The French man also hailed his team’s mentality claiming he doesn’t believe the team failed to win the title because it lacked the right mentality
‘But I believe there is something special in the team on the mentality front and there is something happening inside the club that is very positive.
‘We could not get that completely into materialising into success this season. But there is something happening inside the club that is very positive and a very healthy mentality.
