Arsene Wenger has assured fans that he will get as much as he wants to spend in the summer transfer window, via Standard Sport.
Financial analyst Ravi Lockyer last week revealed that the manager could only be given £54.1m to spend on new transfers this summer, meaning any other purchase would have to be funded by player sales. Wenger has now denied those claims saying he would get as much money as he wants to spend this summer.
With the fans keen on Wenger to strengthen the squad significantly this summer, the Frenchman has assured supporters of majority owner Stan Kroenke’s commitment to the team. Wenger believes he would be given whatever he needs to spend to take Arsenal to the next level.
He told BBC Sport: “Stan Kroenke is completely behind myself and the board investing as much money as we want. It has to be in respect of a balanced budget, we have resources but the problem is finding players. Everybody has money in England and they’re all after good players.
“The good players aren’t legion, you have to be shrewd and be a little bit lucky.”
Wenger has earmarked three new signings to strengthen the squad this summer and it is believed a striker and a centre midfielder is high on the French man’s wishlist.
