Arsenal have made a bid for Spanish Striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports. Wenger is understandably seeking more firepower following the long-term injury suffered by Danny Welbeck which will see the England international miss out on the first half of next season.
This has left Arsenal light in attack and Wenger is understood to be very keen on signing Alvaro Morata this summer.
Real Madrid are expected to activate the buyback clause in the player’s contract at Juventus this summer and sell him for a higher fee and now according to Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport, via the Express, Arsenal have contacted Madrid directly as regards signing the striker. The Gunners have reportedly offered to pay a fee of £51m in order to secure the services of the 23-year-old striker.
Juventus have been left powerless by recent developments as the Italian club were prepared to offer Madrid £8m to enable them to keep the striker but Arsenal’s mega offer dwarfs that of the Turin giants.
Morata is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League and has previously talked up the possibility of a switch to England.
‘I am happy in Italy but Germany and England are both countries where my style of football could be better suited.
‘I like the Premier League a lot because of the way football is played there.
It’s more attractive for a striker because it is not as tactical as in Italy.’
